A. Important National Festivals/ Special Programmes held recently include -

  • Republic Day Folk Dance Festival (Annual Programme) - This magnificent folk dance event is held every year, as part of the Republic Day Celebrations.
  • DweepMahotsav, Andaman & Nicobar Islands (Annual Programme) - A cultural bonanza that creates an unique opportunity for the people of the remote lslands to know more about Indian culture. 3) North East Festival, Kolkata - Folk and classical artistes, and craftsmen of North Eastern states received an overwhelming response.
  • Parv Bharatiyam - A 4 day festival of folk and classical music and dance programmes held on the occasion of the inauguration of the Bharatiyam Cultural Multiplex, by his Excellency the Vice President of India.
  • VasantUtsav - Madhuvastakam Festival, Kolkata, involving classical and folk interpretations of the Festival.
  • IITF Saras at PragatiMaidan - New Delhi - Daily cultural programmes organized by the EZCC were enjoyed by thousands of spectators.
  • Seminar on Panchakanyas in Indian Epics - Eminent Scholars presented papers on the Panchakanyas of the Indian epics. AOdissi Dance recital depicting the Panchakanyas was highly appreciated.
  • Lok Kala Utsav - intended to encourage and popularise folk music and dances by artistes from rural and semiurban areas and provide opportunities to them to perform at state capitals.
  • LokAbhinay Festival, Kolkata - Folk theatres from different parts of India received rave reviews. 10) Release of Folk Music CD, "Suranjali" by His Excellency the President of India. The CD produced by EZCC incorporate folk music from the different corners of the country. It is the first of its kind and has gained immense popularity.

B. International Festivals
  • Festival of India in Bhutan, EZCC put up a folk spectacle incorporating dance forms from all over India, adding colour to the festival.
  • EZCC, on invitation from the Ministry of culture, Govt. of Mauritius, sponsored a 10 member Bhojpuri folk dance troupe to participate in the 170th Anniversary Celebration of the Arrival of Indentured Labourers in Mauritius.
